Miss Sri Lanka for Miss World 2006- Jacqueline Fernandez

Hey everyone! We start off by introducing Jackie Fernandez....Well known for winning the title of Miss Sri Lanka in 2006 Jackie is considered one of the most beautiful and famous models from Sri Lanka. She did have to face quite a bit of criticism coz of the fact that she had lived mainly in Bahrain,didn't look sri lankan and coz the way she spoke seemed so overly rehearsed and cliche. She did always seem kinda fake to me and overtly eager to impress,especially in her introduction video where she showed how she helps out at the animal shelter and teaches english to differently abled kids...She's also one of the title winners who can't speak sinhalese and she did face some opposition becoz of that...It also kinda made me feel bad for the others coz you could tell she would win straight out of the gate (out of the final few) because of her advantage in looks and english, leaving all the others without even a chance. (another trend thats been seen in the Miss Sri Lanka contests)









After winning the Miss Sri Lanka contest in 2006 she went on to compete in the Miss Universe Pageant and was considered one of the strongest candidates to represent Sri Lanka after a long time.Unfortunately she wasn't even able to secure a place in the top 10 as hoped, even after trying to butter up Donald Trump ,the guy who owns the miss universe pageant :p and even they thought that the things she said were too "scripted"! (Read her interviews...there the equivalent of saying "world peace" to every question...lol) All in all its pretty obvious Jackie is all about the PR and just wants publicity and fame and its proven by how she up and left Sri Lanka as soon as she got what she wanted and is now living in India where she's trying to break into Bollywood (after trying and failing to get into Hollywood that is)...But none of this changes the fact that she is a pretty girl so enjoy the pics!
